This week in Clay Table news...

This week in clay table news…

This is a new weekly feature that will be running, letting y'all know what goes on in my day to day life, creating things, sculpting and just plain ole’ smooshing of Polymer clay, cause lets face it.. if you’ve done anything with earthen clay or Polymer clay… it’s so much fun!

Let's dive right in, shall we?

I've been pretty busy this past week in my studio!
Opened an Etsy shop, which wasn't as difficult as I thought, but it sure was time consuming. Let's see.. it took me about 3 days to load the photos, list the items and make sure everything looked awesome!  I was able to open the shop today, YAY!!!

My online friend, Debbie created me an Etsy shop banner, which I'm so proud of! Did y'all know that Debbie does this for a living? She also created my shop avatars, Facebook fan page banner, Artfire banner and business cards!

If you are in the market for amazing work, go and check her out! But she doesn't just do banners and avatars, this woman is so talented, in fact.. I you can check out this blog post, where I did a review for her new workbooks called ABC Workbooks.

For Halloween, I have created a few new items for sale now in my Etsy shop
Realistic Autopsy Polymer clay necklace
Grim Reaper with Scythe

Also, in both my Etsy and Artfire shops, I'm running a
**HALLOWEEN SAVINGS** 10% off!
Just enter coupon code HALLOWEENROCKS2012 during checkout, and receive 10% off! Offer good 10/21/12 thru 10/28/12.

That’s all the time we have for this week, tune in next week where you can view the newest items I have listed in both shops, which are listed below.

Come and see me on :

Have a wonderful day and thank you for stopping to say hello!

ABC Workbooks review

How are you doing today? I would like to thank you for stopping to visit my blog, I would like to invite you to follow my new blog, I'll gladly return the favor, thank you!

So, are you an artist or crafter? You enjoy creating fun things for friends and family, then someone has said to you those 4 magic words.. "You should sell this" !?
Oh sure, you've been thinking about it for a long time, wondering where and how you would even begin to start selling your work, then like some of the artist and crafters I have run across.. it was just too overwhelming, so they slowed down or stopped all together, only to realize they were giving up something they really loved doing!

Well, here's your chance to start fresh, learn the ropes and get out of your comfort zone to sell your craft, online!

Look no further.. you aren't alone, with the Artsy Biz Chick at your side each step of the way, that task of selling the craft you love, won't be so overwhelming after all!

With these 5 very informative ABC Workbooks, you are able to follow along at your own pace while you learn everything you need, to get started.

The Artsy Biz Chick workbooks will help you cut out the "learning time" that I spent looking for tools and tips to build my art biz on a small budget. You'll save hours, days and even weeks of effort and keep you in your studio, which is where you really want to be.  And finally, it will show you how you can have a successful art business by working smarter,
not harder."

The workbooks you will receive are:

What a fantastic offer and let me tell you, it's worth it!

At such a wonderful price, the set of workbooks normally goes for $19.95 but right now, for the bundle you will only pay..  $14.95 for the entire bundle of 5 workbooks!

 With each workbook you get:

A manual written with the 'newbie' in mind, FULL of
practical tools and tips to start selling online right away,
even on a small budget.
Easy checklists to help you complete your tasks.
A bonus chapter entitled 'Selling Your Art', which lists
the top online shops and galleries.
There are over 50 pages of practical info a
a BONUS 'Tools And Resources' package
(over 50 online tools that are
free or almost free!).

As soon as I received my workbooks, I dove right in on the first one, Website DIY. Now, I'll be honest with you, I was half expecting this workbook to be filled with all that technical computer lingo that normally goes right over my head, but not with this book! The terminology was so easy to understand and follow. I felt as though I already had enough for customers to follow, with a blog, online store and Facebook page. But as I was reading through this workbook, I created a "mock website" just to see if it was really as easy as the book claimed. I'm really happy to say.. Yes, the instructions were so easy to follow that I'm now considering keeping that 'mock website' and using it along side of my other site.

And as an added bonus, at the end of each workbook there is a check list of the things you have covered in the workbook!
I'm tellin' y'all... these workbooks practically do all the work for you!

The next workbook was Your Blog, voice behind the artist
In this workbook you can learn the right way to create and maintain a blog. The correct ways to write each blog post and most importantly, the best way to get your product or craft noticed by all! And lets face it, we all want the viewers to our blogs to stay entertained and look forward to reading more about us, don't we?!

So, now that you feel as though you have a handle on those two things.. it's time to Get Social; Tweet Your Way to Profits.
Really, no matter which social platform you choose to use, this workbook is a fantastic way to learn the importance of social networking etiquette!
Tells you that one of the most visible places to network right now, is... my favorite.. Pinterest! I have found that Pinterest is the best place to get noticed!

Now that you have these three workbooks mastered, it's time for you to do some Marketing Your Art: The (Not so) Scary Side of Business.
This workbook takes you through all the great ways to market your art, as the title says! It's really amazing how detailed this set of 5 workbooks are, they have really opened my eyes on ways to market my jewelry. The books will help you as well!

Which brings us to the last of the 5 book series, Other Streams of INCome

This workbook takes us through all the great tools that have been at our fingertips (literally) and we might not have taken advantage of them yet. I'm talking about Google Adsense and other things such as becoming an affiliate. This workbook is chock-full of all different types income related products. Before reading this workbook, I only knew of and used Google Adsense, but now that I know that there are many others out there, I'm able to make a choice on what's right for my shop!

With each workbook you start on, there are easy to follow directions,
If you are struggling and haven't been getting those sales you've expected.. perhaps it's time to take the next step and look in other areas. One of those areas should be with these fabulous workbooks! Go and purchase you a set! They are called ABC Workbooks by Artsy Biz Chick!

Some fun things to share with y'all !

Good morning, it's so good to see you all here!

This week has been eventful, to say the least! HA!!

My son is in JROTC with his high school and they had their Battalion picnic at school. I think it turned out really great, despite the scattered rain showers, the kids managed to have a blast!

The kids ate burgers and hot dogs then played tug of war.. let me tell ya...that was the most entertaining thing I have ever witnessed! Even a future JROTC cadet got in on the action! (see the little guy in front wearing cowboy boots!)

With the holidays coming up, I have been collecting a number of what I think will be some really tasty recipes. And of course, I got them all from my favorite source.. Pinterest!

The first recipe I found is

Pumpkin Fudge! Found on Real Mom Kitchen blog

I haven't made this yet, but my mouth has been watering.. I just hope it tastes as good as it sounds. I'll let y'all know how it goes when I do make it!

The next recipe I found through Pinterest is,
Baileys Vanilla Bean Fudge Found this one through the Not So Humble Pie blog

If you are a fan of Vanilla, then let me tell ya.. this is the fudge for you! Just looking at the photo, this fudge looks so soft and creamy. This is another recipe I can't wait to try!

I think I also want to try this:

The Great Pumpkin Cake! Found on A Merrier World blog.

pumpkin-cake-assembly

From the looks of this photo, this is a Pumpkin Bundt mold, but I think that I can just use my bundt and rig it to look like a pumpkin, eh?  Just hope mine turns out looking as good as this one does!

This blog is fantastic, if you look on the right hand side, there is a list of "Favorite Feasts" and there are many to choose from!

Well, the laundry won't do it's self, so I better get in there and do some work.

Hope y'all have a great day and if you try any of these recipes let me know.. better yet, feel free to share the things you've tried or your favorite recipe.

Till next time!

Feature of the month.. October!

Feature of the month..October!

About the Artisans: Mundial Treasures

Lucas is a 23 year old from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and his older brother Matias is 25.

Q. When, and how did you get started in Macramé? What Drew you to it in the first place

A.      Lucas and Matias have been working as jewelry designers for the last seven years.  They began their artisan lifestyle when their parents worked as craftsmen.  This rare family art was passed down from parents to sons.   At first, they worked side by side with their parents, then eventually branched off on their own when they had perfected of the art form.  Lucas and Matias’s mother was the macramé artist. With her watchful eye they learned much from her. After some years, Matias and Lucas started traveling together.  During their travels throughout South America they quickly learned that macramé was a great way to make money to fund their travels. Macramé is ideal to travel with because it is lightweight and small enough to carry around.  After working with macrame for several years designing new pieces became second nature to them, just as it did with their parents. After making jewelry separately for some time, both Lucas and Matias started getting recognized for their talented work.  Lucas and Matias became increasingly fascinated by the beauty of unique stones as they further developed as artisans. As Lucas and Matias traveled together they were continuously inspired by day to day life, and by people who admired their work.

Q. What kept you inspired when times were tough and when motivation was low?

A. The two brothers jokingly explained that smoking a little marijuana helped them to break through some barriers. Lucas does not attempt new designs when not feeling inspired.  Everyday life is the biggest inspiration.  The rare moments, situations and unique characters that they meet every day is what truly inspires them. Matias feels similar about his inspirations, but and added that surfing, and ocean are what feeds creative process.

Q. Do you have any advice for someone just starting out as a jewellery maker?

A. Patience is the key to succeeding, says Lucas. Adapting a personal style that is derived from your own fashion sense is important.  Trust your instincts, and be conscious of your personal style.  Don’t be afraid to try something new, and different, says Lucas.
Learn new knots and try different techniques when creating new pieces. The two brothers believe not only in trying new things but also in actively seeking out new ideas.  When finished one piece it is important to start a new one right away, says Matias.

Q. What’s your favorite kind of art to work with, and why?

A. That’s a difficult question, says Matias.  Both brothers agree that they enjoy a wide variety of art work. They like to paint when they are painting, and enjoy making macramé jewelry when working on macramé.  Now, both brothers are working on a hotel in Ecuador creating a mosaic mural. They are covering the dome of the roof, and are having a lot of fun doing it. Matias feels especially tied surfing.  It may not be considered art in the traditional sense, but really enjoys it.  Matias firmly believes that without surfing there would be no inspiration for art.

Q. How long can it take to make a macramé piece?

A. A small bracelet, that they make regularly, can take a couple of hours, but other, more extravagant pieces can take upwards to two weeks to make.

And now for a glimpse into the artist's shop..

Mundial Treasures is an independent import shop that hosts a wide variety of goods from all around the world. " Our goal is to present new and inspiring cultural works that would otherwise be limited to the culture in which the works were derived from. "
